I'm using the toolchain provided by Technilogic for the 2.6.21 kernel:
ftp://ftp.embeddedarm.com/ts-arm-linux-cd/cross-toolchains/crosstool-linux26-3.4.4-2005q3-2.tar.gz
Try it and see if you get the same behavior?
