By dummy he means looping back some of the control signals to make a system that hardware handshaking is working, like looping back request to send to clear to send. Cables like that will work, but no need. Make sure you turn off hardware handshaking in your terminal program.
Also, almost all modern ethernet ports can detect that the tx and rx are crossed and adjust. I have only used normal off the shelf ethernet cables. Don't mess with ethernet crossover cables. Don. On 1/29/07, Alvaro Aguirre <> wrote:
