Just curious about what you think is "low end" about it.
Also curious about why you mentioned ucLinux in your first post?
What's wrong with the standard 2.4 Linux Kernel Technolgics provides
support for?

I use a set of NiMH batteries, or a 12V Pb battery to power it for several
hours away from it's regular PSU.
