Using 24-bit encoding gives you a lot of freedom to record at lower levels =
and boost later in post. For nature sounds 24-bit has allowed me to use a s=
tandard recording level for all set-ups. Thunder and close frogs are the on=
ly things that have overloaded my system. I just don=92t worry about levels=
.

Of course the best converters have noise down about 21 bits, so the bottom =
bits are just noise, but still, that=92s a long way below 16 bits.
