It looks like there are at least a couple improvements in the PCM-D100 over=
 the D50. It uses more commonly available SD memory cards instead of only S=
ony Memory Sticks.  And the avisoft.com recorder list suggests it may have =
slightly improved input quality.  Will that translate to a difference in re=
sults when using the best PIP powered mics? I would have to hear comparison=
s between the D100 and other available portable recorders like the PCM-M10 =
done in a quiet natural setting and using relatively quiet PIP mics (less t=
hen 20dB self noise) like Telinga Clip-On to know.  Only if it does prove b=
etter there, then would I might want to know, how well does it perform with=
 relatively quiet (less than 10dB self noise) XLR mics and a separate phant=
om power supply? At that point I may then ask myself, "Is it worth the pric=
e?"=0D
