It is a Sony system which more or less eliminates digital "jitter" and quantising noise caused by uneven arithmetic between,= say 011111111111111 and 100000000000000 and 100000000000001 (one bit is the= parity bit) It is the digital equivalent of pulse width modulation at video sampling rates. On a recorder costing less than 4 $digits, you are not going to hear= the difference. Wildlife recordists have bigger problems outdoors and passing planes are not going to sound better. :-) David Brinicombe |
