Can I add a couple of extras to what David has posted below. He makes no me=
ntion of solder type, and some are better than others for our uses. I recom=
mend getting hold of some Eutectic solder. It was recommended to me, a few =
years back, by a top flight USAF electronics man, and having tried it, I'd =
never use anything else again. With this you need to use specifically a Ros=
in flux; the most convenient form is the pen type. These have a hard fibre =
tip, which you push down to release the liquid. This pen type dispenser is =
just my personal preference. I notice Stu that you're in the UK like myself=
, and if you don't have suppliers on the corner, you can get both of these =
items off eBay. Here's a link to a cut length of solder:
