John, Yes, and I have an explanation. Sounds with high harmonics compress relatively well, but "complex" high frequency content has to be reduced to= spot frequencies which have to be regenerated but not necessarily with a similar waveform to the original. This works OK with "pop" music where the high end is usually percussion and= if you listen to the output of the tweeters alone, it can be a mess. This doesn't matter if it is a rhythmic mess.
