This is only a problem if you make decisions based on your legacy. But sinc=
e changing standards can never be predicted, I think it's a mistake to let =
this generate angst.
The solution is to make decisions based on the constraints of the present, =
the goals you wish to attain in the tangible future, and other factors that=
are not completely unforeseen.
We are not responsible for those things we cannot control.
Besides which, I do not share your negative view of declining standards. Pe=
ople have always thought they lived in those times when things were getting=
worse. Right back to the earliest documents we can find! It's human nature=
but does not reflect any underlying reality. Certainly the potential for a=
udio recording quality has only increased in my lifetime. As has the genera=
l level of knowledge and interest in field recording.
