It may be worth a mention, in comparison tests I did this spring, between the
AT3032 directly into a SD702 and the AT3032 into a PCM-M10 via an Art Phantom
II phantom power supply, the PCM-M10 recordings were significantly noisier -
presumably due to the inferior inputs of the PCM-M10. This suggests to me the
benefits of using the lower self-noise AT3032 rather than the low-cost EM172
are reduced substantially when used with "the smaller flash card recorders."
