The Jecklin Disk is larger, not smaller.  I believe Jecklin's original design 
was modeled from a LP record as a baffle and head spaced (165mm) mics. His 
later update specifies a 35cm disk with 36cm mic spacing.

I have only tried the original head spaced scheme.

I have not, but that does bring up the interesting characteristic of a baffled 
array where the effectual path length between capsules changes depending on 
angle to the sound source and frequency.
