It is a very well known phenomenon that true condenser mics suffer in high =
humidity. The humidity makes the air gap between the front & rear elements =
of the capsule conductive, resulting in pops as the potential between the p=
lates discharges. This problem reverses itself once the mics are removed fr=
om the humid environment, so no lasting damage. Generally electret condense=
rs are less prone than true condensers to this issue, & dynamic mics are co=
mpletely free of it, so if one must record in the tropics backup mics of al=
ternative technology are suggested.
