That's interesting. It was while watching a Victorian drama (The Pallisers,=
 c1980?) that I suddenly became aware of background noise. The scene was a =
quiet room, but I could hear distant road noise. I recognised it as the sou=
nd I had previously associated with silence at home.=0D

I don't remember any aircraft noises though.=0D
