As to your problem, first let me say the recording sounds great in spite
of the noise, excellent separation...  Sounds good enough to inspire me
to build me a SASS when time permits...

However I went ahead and downloaded the clip from Soundcloud and loaded
it Audacity and displayed it as a sonogram.  My first reaction was that
you may have a faulty version of Audacity as I could not see any
harmonic bars as you describe...  Then I to boost the gain setting of
Audacity's sonogram generator up and yes, there they were, faint but there.

My guess is its some type of oscillation caused by being wrapped in the
towel, an acoustic echo being fed back in but at a very low level...

I'd blame the towel and try some other material for a comparison...
