Unless you're showing a lion roar or a bird making a= specific sound.... why bother. Most environmental sounds are background filler or helping to create a scen= e. Using layered sound in the mixing stage is the preferred method because it's fast, controllable, and inexpensive. Oh, = and yields good results.
