Nikolas,

Do you mean it works when facing the wind and rumbles at a angle?

Any windshield has to cover all close objects like mic mounts or
recorders to be fully effective. Wind by itself doesn't make a noise,
it's when it is deflected by something angular it breaks up into
eddies which cause the problem. Anything to round off the profile will
help and it only has to be transparent to sound for the microphones.
If the recorder is hand held, include your hand as a potential rumble
generator. Experiment with a woolly scarf.
