After posting my message I continued to hunt around a bit, and there was a =
thread on www.socialsounddesign.com where they mentioned the Ambient ATE 20=
8 Emesser mic, which seems like about the same size and shape as the Schoep=
s CCM8, at about $700 @ B&H. It's sold as a clip-on accessory to a shotgun =
to create an M/S setup.
The CK94 is at Full Compass for $530 + $290 for the body.
There are also some integrated M/S shotgun mics, such as the Sennheiser MKH=
418 and the AT8029, at ~$1800 and $700 respectively. The AT8029 seems likel=
y to be very noisy although the 418 seems less so. Still pretty expensive.
The CAD M179 + Rode NT1-a would be ~$400. This seems to be the cheapest low=
-noise possibility, but it doesn't seem like it would be very portable.
