My point is that it doesn't have to be audible.=C2=A0 The resampling routin=
es will do calculations and change their prediction because it is present.=
=C2=A0 Do most speakers reproduce those tones, no.=C2=A0 Can most humans he=
ar them no.=C2=A0 But they are a significant part of the sound.=C2=A0 If yo=
u strip them out and are familiar with the live and not recorded sound, you=
are very likely to notice that something is missing.=C2=A0 Not quite right=
, and otherwise odd.=C2=A0 Does a mic with a 150Hz to 15kHz range sound the=
same as one with 20Hz to 20kHz?

Will we notice on a rock concert where our familiarity is the reproduction =
of the sound through speakers as recorded through a microphone, probably no=
t.=C2=A0 Will we notice on a small acoustic ensemble, if we are familiar wi=
th it, yes.=C2=A0 It doesn't have to be in the audible range to have an aff=
ect on the audible range.=C2=A0 But many of the harmonics are in the audibl=
e range.=C2=A0 Granted that you don't want to leave the ones higher than th=
e specs of average speakers in as their existence will muddy what anyone wh=
o has more average gear will hear.=C2=A0 Because that gear will try to repr=
oduce it and fail.=C2=A0 Is it as critical for nature recordings, probably =
not, because most folks are not that familiar with those sounds live.=C2=A0=
And so many uncontrollable variables that makes every recording unique.

While I don't know my particular range of hearing, I do hear the wine of th=
e TV and some lights.=C2=A0 That high pitch that preceeds the starting of t=
he A/C unit, and other everyday sounds.=C2=A0 Not as often or as much as I =
did as a kid, but I do still hear them.

Trying to bring it back to OT for the OP.=C2=A0 I buy gear based on three o=
r more factors.=C2=A0 Either a) it's a deal I cannot pass on (resale at a p=
rofit), or b) I have a curiousity that simply cannot be satisfied any other=
way, or the most likely one c) I can't find a sample of that gear in use t=
hat I do NOT like.=C2=A0 If there aren't any samples then I'm not likely to=
buy it.=C2=A0 No one has heard of it, used it, or would want to buy it use=
d, so it'd be a waste of good money.=C2=A0 Or those that have don't think i=
t's good enough to share.
