The Audacity is quite capable of creating sonograms!  Both the spectrum and=
 spectrum log(f) options - selected from the pulldown menu next to the trac=
k name generate very usable sonograms.  The settings can be varied in the S=
pectrogram preferences.  The only drawback is that settings can't be adjust=
ed on the fly.
