Hi Steven and welcome to the list!

Yes a number of people on this list can do what you ask. ;-) Both by
applying Raimund's measurements to the Rane Chart to determine how
low the self-noise/sensitivity computation would have to be for the
input noise of the M10 and the D50 to become audible and then
comparing these numbers to relevant recordings and experiences people
can confirm. Takes both for the prediction to be reliable.

That said, its easier and probably better to look at specific mics
you want to use. "Pro" mics vary a lot in terms of noise/sensitivity
performance.  Also, do you want to make a lot of "high gain"
recordings-- like record ambience in places with low background sound
levels?

Its often more efficient to start with the budget, choose the mics
and array and choose the recorder last. Rob D.
