Hmmmm
No Grant, I hadn't thought of it..
The iMac has the following
Line In:
Connection: Combo
S/P-DIF Out:
Connection: Combo
S/P-DIF In:
Connection: Combo
I think that the 3.5 mm jack also has S/P-DIF built in (I believe it detects
the presence when in use). In the real world, what is needed to get from the
702 into the iMac in this way?
> You could always use the digital out from the SD702 to the digital in
> (if your sound card/interface has it) on the imac, that way the SD702
> is acting as your A/D convertor.
> The digital input on the "sound card" will lock to the SD702 as long
> as it can "hear" the sample rate. ie: make sure they both do the
> sample rate you want to input. Quality of the interface unit isn't a
> deal breaker as the SD702 will be doing all the work , you're just
> passing digital information through it.
> Important!
> Remember to check the (digital) impedance is the same for the two
> units and interconnect cable, 75 OR 100 ohms, as it can cause
> clocking issues. (digital hash and or pops)
