John,
I'm sure you've thought of it but...
You could always use the digital out from the SD702 to the digital in  
(if your sound card/interface has it) on the imac, that way the SD702  
is acting as your A/D convertor.
The digital input on the "sound card" will lock to the SD702 as long  
as it can "hear" the sample rate. ie: make sure they both do the  
sample rate you want to input. Quality of the interface unit isn't a  
deal breaker as the SD702 will be doing all the work , you're just  
passing digital information through it.
Important!
Remember to check the (digital) impedance is the same for the two  
units and interconnect cable, 75 OR 100 ohms, as it can cause  
clocking issues. (digital hash and or pops)
