Very good, well, I'll give it a try.  Actually, I think the cigarette
lighter plug part I mentioned from DigiKey has a built-in fuse - just
as you wisely recommended!

I hope to leave the SD running at sunset on a Sage Grouse lek next
March so I can catch the predawn show without marching out and
scattering all the performers in the early morning hours.
