Even with the lavs, Aaron, I almost always tie them to a tree and go
away leaving the whole system to do it's thing. Chris Watson suggests
using a regular wire coat hanger and pinning the lavs to each end and
walk away. That works if there's not much wind to worry about and the
hanger can be stabilized.
