Hi all,

A couple of years ago I bought a Sony MZ-RH1 recorder for recording bird s=
ound (with a Sennheiser ME67 shotgun microphone). It worked well most of th=
e time but has had a few problems and I have now given up on fixing the thi=
ng and need to find a new recorder to buy with equal or better performance.=

Since technology improves in leaps and bounds in a matter of months and I =
am not tech savvy (at all!) I wonder if people have suggestions of a reason=
ably priced recorder (i.e. ~AU$500) that is easy to use, records high quali=
ty sounds, writes to disc/card reasonably fast and allows manual control of=
 gain.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Dean
