Hello,=0D
Actually I had the same dilema almost 2 months ago...=0D
I chose the marantz one, due to its flexibility mainly..=0D
but I do not exclusively with nature subjects so my criteria might =0D
be different than yours..=0D
but here is a resume of my conclusions :=0D
The Fr2-le is supposed to have slightly better pre-amps, that' s for =0D
sure one plus=0D
The 661 is definitely more robust=0D
The 661 can be used as a handheld device (though it' s big if =0D
compared with say the microtrack) and it also features=0D
really good build-in microphones - so it' s a flexible choice if you =0D
also need a unit to carry with you all the time=0D
the fr2-le can' t be used that way - it also has no miniplug line =0D
input that you may find useful (the 661 has that and I use it to plug
my binaurals so it' s really a plus for me..)=0D
the fr2-le (as discussed in previous posts) will stop recording after
the maximum file size is reached (2Gb) while the 661 will just =0D
continue on a different file.=0D
I can' t think of sth else in the moment.. They are really good =0D
choices both of them,=0D
I really love the 661 and I am definitely happy with this, but if I =0D
owned sth say like sony d-50 I would go for sth like the fr2-le due =0D
to the quality of the pre-amps..=0D
If you live in the Us, there is a company that upgrades these =0D
machines (doug O...sth or sth like that) so you can combine all the =0D
pluses of the pmd-661 with quiter pre-amps but I live in europe.....=0D
hope I helped=0D
