There are plenty of low cost DACs out there with SPDIF optical inputs, desi=
gned for the hi-fi market. Some are quite cheap; I have even seen DIY kits.=

But it does not have a headphone socket, so if you wanted to work with head=
phones you'd have to plug it into a hi-fi amp or similar with RCA inputs an=
d a headphone socket.

If you poke around the budget hi-fi world long enough, you're bound to find=
 something.
