I have run out of space on the 4 GB CF cards that I use. I've never
run out of space on the 40 GB internal drive nor the external (AC
operation only) 120 GB drive. Since you can get what, 16 GB CF cards,
then it's less of an issue.

I like the idea of running RAID-1, essentially, with both the CF and
the HD, but I generally just use the CF card and drop it in a reader
rather than connecting the SD722 to the FW port on the PC.

The 40GB hard drive, of course, offers much longer recording
potential. It also offers another layer of backup once I copy to my
DAW, but before I push that out to the twin RAID boxes.

Is it worth $600 or so? I thought it was when I bought it. I don't
know in this economy if I'd just get a 702. If I got a second
machine, it would almost certainly be a 702.

Last Christmas eve, I recorded all five services both to the SD and
to a PC (in multitrack, but we ended up using only the main stereo
pair which were on the PC as well as the SD. I think we used the SD
version. That was a LOT of data from one evening.

Cheers,

Richard
