As reported before, I've used a 12 volt "lawn tractor," lead acid battery and the Sony type M Li-on batteries as BU for takes of 24 hours or longer on my 744T/MP-2 combo on many occasions. The 744T (v.1.6 firmware) makes the switch-over without shutting down and can also sit for long periods in stop mode waiting for an autostart. The power cord is a simple "Y" design and I think the power is connected to pins 1 (-) & 4 (+) on the Hirose DC input plug, Come to think about it, the external lead acid battery will charge the internal battery so maybe I should confirm the connector wiring.
