I'm happy to belong to the two groups and plan to contribute too, and
learn from, both. If a second group can bring people back that have
hesitated to post on this group, for whatever reasons ...then I see it
as a positive thing. I had no problem with the way things were in the
one group, as I read the posts in a daily digest and filtered through
the topics that interested me.
I guess I'll post my equipment and technical related questions and
opinions to this group, and my field recording topics and links to the
new group, and see what happens. I'll try to keep cross posting to a
minimum on some of the grey areas, or maybe flip a coin.  I stand to
gain by not missing anyone's posts or information, even if it means
going through it twice in my inbox. One thing that has impressed me
about this group is the tolerence for all newbie questions and the
great respect everyone has for each other, at all levels, professional
and amateur.
