Never tried it on Hi-MD. And the pull the lug trick works on Sony
home decks from the 80s and 90s, no idea if it will work on a
portable or a HiMD. I cannot say it will work, but can it hurt to try?

The reason it works with the older Sonys is because if they lose
power, the ToC is saved until power is restored, then writes it to
disk. No guarantees!
