I'm going to Newfoundland on Friday with two CMC641 mics that I will use for mono voice recording and ORTF ambient recording. I am thinking of taking along two omnidirectional capsules for ambient nature recordings, especially by and on the ocean and rivers, using A- B. Schoeps makes four versions of its omni: MK2, MK2H, MK2S and MK3: http://www.schoeps.de/E-2004/omnis.html If I do this, I have to decide tomorrow, and I won't have a chance to try any of these out. Judging from their web site, I should be considering the MK2, MK2H or the compromise MK2S. Any thoughts about the appropriateness of these? A possible alternative is two wide cardiod MK21g mics using ORTF. I just wonder whether these mics will do much that my MK41 mics won't. Thanks for any comments. |
