I'm not sure what software the Mac G4 shipped with to help with the process of digitizing the input signal. Perhaps a Mac user here can suggest a good choice. For Mac models that lack the 3.5mm input, you'd have to purchase an audio interface that attaches by USB. One inexpensive model is the Griffith iMic (about $40). http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic/ Most PCs have some sort of audio card that will have an input for line level signals.
