Dear Nature Recordists,

I need some advice...
I have bought last year a second-hand MKH30 which makes me crazy.

Last summer, after using it during a few months without any problems, it
showed some very strange low rolling sounds. I send it to Sennheiser in
Germany where they changed the capsule.

Since I received it, it seems to work except a new strange behaviour :
the sounds is ok except when the MKH30 is getting close to my MKH40, in
M-S configuration.
Then, I have in both microphones a very high frequency sound at low
level (but still disturbing), sometimes stable, sometimes shifting.

I tested with my SD722 and my Digidesign sound card, I changed my cables
but the only thing that stops this annoying whistling is to put a piece
of aluminium foil between the two microphones.
So I believe that this is an electromagnetic interference between the
two capsules ? But why my MKH40 get it also ?

What should I do :
send again the microphone at Sennheiser Germany (because it seems that
in France, the technicians aren't able to repair it) and waiting 3
months like the last time (I don't know why do these guys work so slowly
!) ?
Open the microphone and see if the technician forgot to connect the EMI
protection grid ?
Keep always aluminium foil between the microphones (mmmmh) ?

Any miracle advice ? ;-(

Friendly,

Yannick
