    Interesting. I have to say I have never noticed this, but short of 
recording a dead cat in the vacuum of outer space I don't think I would 
notice 2db of noise added to the basic preamp noise. You have to 
remember that the experts on this forum and people writing articles like 
that are the *most* exacting recordists that exist. If it passes the 
test on this list, it's gold. For the money, the HiMD recorders are a 
bargain that 5-10 years ago would have been unthinkable, and are still 
the Best Buy today (IMHO).
