Well, one could say that the EM66 in itself is a rather noisy
microphone, so I suppose it doesn't matter.
I guess the Marantz input noise is more audible when you connect
microphones like R=F6de NT1A or Sennheiser MKH to it.
The noise talked about here, is not at all like traffic noise, but
more like a "hissssi" sound, as when the TV goes off, or between
stations on a FM-radio. Often such noise is masked quite good by
background noise, but once you have suffered from it, you cant let go
of it. It's like a hole in a tooth. You have to stick your tongue
into it all the time....
That is why it is so widely discussed on the list.
