No production yet. I have a few prototypes, one with Rob, for test
(perhaps) but I am hesitating about it.
I tested the SoundProfessional's SP-11 and I think it is good enough
for nearly half the price. At least it gives enough PIP voltage and
it is low-noise. The only (??) advantage with the planned PIPamp
should then be that you have a real rotary gain switch 10 db/ step
and perhaps more reliable. I don't trust the on/off switch of the
SP-11, for example.
Besides, the PIPamp was never planned as a item "in production" but
more as making 10-20 units as a service for people on the list.
Why I hesitate is that I have not yet been able to test the clip
level of the SP-11 with different loads and long cables. (Capacitance
distortion) I have got some indications that it may clip under
"normal" naturerecording conditions, if there is wind.
