Modified Climate change debate?

Subject: Modified Climate change debate?

Yes, Martyn, this is painful. Embarrassing. All the time. Every day.

Over here, it's not possible to listen one single day to any serious
media, without having something about climate change stuffed down
your throat. Some is stupid, some is true, but how to know what is what??
In the same time, do you and I actually believe that silence is the
solution? I don't think so.

I remember 50 years ago, when birders claimed that the shelf of
falcon eggs were too thin cause of some chemicals. It didn't take
much of open discussion before DDT was discovered and removed from
the fields. So why is the same discussion so impossible now?? It's
the same discussion, just enormously bigger!?

I blame PC and the PC people.
I have just recently read a lot of magazines from the thirties,
discussing homosexuality and crime. It's a terrible debate, but
amazingly open! No PC! It seems as if any author could write as he
liked, as long as he first declared his Honor to God, the King and
the Swedish nation.
And some reading I have done on scientists and their lives in the old
age, tells about university professors that actually planned to
murder the competitor.

So what is PC??
Here was a poor biologist who, in the radio, claimed that the salmons
were healthier the closer they lived to the Baltic countries, where
the water is most polluted! Poor guy! As he made a summary of his
research, he literarily begged for mercy!
So what was he saying? Was he saying that it is okay to pollute the
Baltic Sea? No, he wasn't. He was saying that when looking for a
reason why salmons get sick, we have to look for some other cause
than the known pollution which were studied.
And as he was saying that, he almost shit in his pants.....

I don't know if this list is the right one for the climate
discussion. At my level, I have hints that their is a lot of good
bioacoustic research on bird-migration paths, but no global central
for this research, collecting the data, interpreting and making
summaries. Can such data help in finding out about global warming? I
don't know, but I think so. Just as we discovered DDT from data about
falcon's eggs.
And I know that some new things are going on at the themes of
migration and spread of diseases.
So there might be a bridge between the "big" topics and the small ones.

There is no other solution than a million of ideas.

Klas.
