is designed to do just that. I've played with one of these, it has a 8 seco=
nd loop buffer and can record the bird song with up to 320kbps (mono) mp3 w=
hich compressing then notes you make at 64k.

This sounds far better than the revolting quality of typical digital voice =
recorders, and much less fiddly that my HiMD, though the upside potential o=
f the HiMD is making much better recordings using better mikes.

It date and time-stamps the recordings and manages this data in a more inte=
lligent way that my Olympus DVR, so you can attach a location to a group of=
 sounds, which is easier than trawling through the list of datestamped wavs=
 the Oly software does.
