Hi, I've done some in the field recording tests with the R-09. And came to =
the conclusion
that recordings done with the build-in stereo mic of even moderately loud a=
mbiances like
light traffic and people also is useless (forget about recording soft ambia=
nces; I don't know
why Edirol added the mic gain high option, because it adds a hudge amount o=
f noise): the
recordings have a reverb effect, I don't know where it's coming from (it ce=
rtainly is NOT
the reverb fx option of the R-09). The recordings were made on a big open s=
quare, but the
results are as if they were made in a very narrow street with high building=
s. Especially this
reverb effect is noticeable on the voices and footsteps.
The only use I see for the R-09 is working ALWAYS in the LOW mic gain setti=
ng and doing
close micing or recording really loud music and concerts.
It is a pity because I must say that I find the R-09 nice working with for =
it's size and how it
is build. It boots up very quick and therefore excellent for picking up mom=
ents doing close
micing.

Does anybody know if there is any solution/comibation possible for acceptab=
le recordings
of low ambiances with quality mics and the R-09 without the fuzz of extra b=
atterypacks,
preamps etc. for the mics, but simply using PiP?

I've red the posts and I understand I can't be to optimistic about it.

Igor.
