Dear John,

Blumlein array functions like any other coincident XY pair and hence
does not require any matrixing for deriving the L and R elements of a
stereo signal. The capsule pointing 45=FBto the left of the axis of
symmetry will provide your L signal and vice versa for the R channel.

Stereophonic Techniques: An Anthology published by the AES provides
very useful (technical) papers on Blumlein and M-S amongst other
stereophonic topics and will be a worthwhile purchase for any one
interested in stereo recording techniques. However it is worth noting
that the recording examples are limited to the realm of 'classical'
recording.

Thanks,
                Antti Sakari Saario
