The video camcorder needs have manual gain but it
can be workable. I tested the PIP mic input on my
Sony TRV-900 video camcorder and found it to have
a bit more noise than my Sony D7 and Sharp MT90
MD mic pres. I tested them all with a Rolls PB224
portable phantom supply and NT1-A's. The PB224,
of course, allows one to use any phantom-powered
mics. Rob D.
