One thing to remember when making surround recordings to a computer is to
always use ASIO drivers. If you don't, there is almost a certainty of
having a time misalignment between channel pairs. This can amount to
hundreds of samples. This is a catastrophe if you are using coincident
miking techniques. However, if you do what Dan suggests below, you'll be O=
K
as long as you make sure to put the front coincident microphones on the
sample channel pair together.

I've been badly burned by this problem. I made recordings using a
Soundfield microphone, and now I have hours of recordings with incorrect
synchronization between the WX (omni and front figure of eight) and YZ (sid=
e
figure of eight and Up figure of eight) channel pairs. I'm reduced to
trying various time offsets between the two channel pairs to see which
sounds best.
