You know, I gotta agree with Doug here, sometimes the bird you see is not
the one that is singing! I have been fooled many times this way, take the
binoculars with you next time and make sure the bugger is not miming :)

After hearing your example sound tracks, I agree.

What is so curious is this one's preference for water. You won't hear
him anywhere but on the levee. Granted, there are low shrubs and
bushes on the river side, but...

As for the 'brown bird'- the field guide indicates 'brown above', and
in low light that's all I could see.
