The mic input specs published on the Marantz web site are the same
as those for the 670.  The text accompanying the specs says
"mic pre-amps are dramatically improved."  My guess is that
the specs don't lie, hence the need for the Oade modifications.

When it's available in September, the Oade-modified 671
will cost less than half the price of the $2,375 SD 722.=20
For the rest of us, a Sony Hi-MD and Rolls pre-amp costs $320.
