Just to second what Dan said, I have been experimenting with two sites
for sharing some field recording "snippets".=20
One is the internet archive: http://www.archive.org (if you search for
"weddig" (without the "n") you will find a bunch of my files). As Dan
said I upload a full bandwidth wav file, then the archive
automatically derives several lossless, lossy, and streaming formats.
I have also been posting some files to the sister site Ourmedia:
http://www.ourmedia.org That site is in alpha right now and I have
had problems getting things to show up there, they may have solved
some of those issues.
Both sites allow traditional or creative commons copyright tags.
Metadata is encouraged, I still have to go through my uploaded files
and update the locations and GPS coordinates.=20
I have also linked to these sites from my meager homepage though I
cannot get the streaming files to work yet.

Note that most of my files have been eq'd and have had some edits made.
