Nagra showed the ARES-PII+ at NAB. This is the third generation of the hand-held recorder. If I read the specs correctly, the PII+ version now includes a choice of 16/48 or 24/48 sampling. The PII+ also uses the FAT32 file format, so recordings on Compactflash card are visible to PC and Mac. other ARES-PII+ specs: 188 x 80 x 28mm, 450g (7.5 x 3.25 x 1 inch, 1 lb) records about 3 hours using 5 AA cells manual or automatic level control built-inconnector for Nagra mic capsule pro mics can be attached via special DIN to XLR cable 48v phantom power available compactflash card inserted using PCMCIA adapter The bad news: price about $2500 USD --oryoki ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ |
