Re: Sonosax's mini-HD recorder, on RAMPS people have been saying that the
eight-channel version will list around $8K, and that there is supposed to
be a two-channel version at around $3K. Preliminary specs are available in
the HTML NAB release on their front page (if you click the picture). The
size and AA battery aspects are appealing...

...but who knows when there might be working product! That photo on their
webpage might as well be a rendering or mockup!

Fwiw Aaton sent out a mailing before NAB mentioning something called
"Cantarine" which sure *sounded* (with no details) like it should be a
smaller (2 channel?) version of the Cantar...

Not holding my breath in either case but a 2-channel Cantar that was
actually affordable by mere mortals is a regretably tantalizing thought.
Though I've not heard nor read anywhere a review of the Cantar pres and
how they would compare to say a 722 etc...
