Walt:

Yes, you found a way to make it work. Both the Peak and Soundhack
conversions now sound virtually identical to the original file, at least to
my ear.

The magic incantation works.

Lang

An addendum to see if anyone is awake. Or muddy the waters...

Using just the same original 48k file from Lang, and respectively the
same Peak 4.03 and Soundhack 0.892 as I used before, and a yet to be
revealed *Magic*Incantation*, here's some new 44k converted files from
those programs:

Peak:
m("44khz_peak_rev.aif","//madranis.home.mindspring.com/insect");">http:
Soundhack:
m("44khz_shak_rev.aif","//madranis.home.mindspring.com/insect");">http:

How do you like those compared to Spark, Audition, the original, the
previous versions from the same programs etc.?

Anyone other than Lang want to take a stab at the *Magic*Incantation*? I
already told Lang. I think it reveals the source of the problem.
