This sort of thing would be very useful. One sound is worth a thousand
words!

A standard sound/sounds that everybody can produce is necessary so the
results are based on the same exact sound.

I think dripping water,  not very exciting, but it would provide a
repeatable sound that everyone could use.

Water dripping from a standard height and rate into a standard container
filled to a standard level should provide very repeatable sound.

Higher pitched sounds could use an empty tin can of standard size etc.

Ambient cuts should be made as exact ambient conditions would be difficult
to duplicate.

Sounds should be in the wav format on cd or em with specs of recording,
conversion etc. noted.

Probably a data sheet with all necessary specifications should accompany
each cut.

I would vote for Steve to set up the specs for this if he is willing and you
all agree.

I think this could be an exciting program, I hope it becomes a reality.
